IMPORTANT NOTICE – PHOTOGRAPHS
We are a model boat club, run by the members for the benefit of the members; however, modern times require us to have official policies stating our position regarding some aspects of life that we cannot ignore. One such policy relates to children and vulnerable adults and we take this very seriously. Whilst it is well understood that if a member of the public enters a public space, such as the parkland surrounding our home lake at Westport, then they may be included in photographs taken by complete strangers who just happen to include their image whilst photographing something else. It is not against any law to do this. Despite there being no legal obligation, as a responsible Club we try not to include photographs of anyone - adults or children - who are not connected with our Club when we are taking photographs of our boats. If we inadvertently do so, then we will ask the people included in the photograph if they object to us having them in a photograph and make it clear that the image may be used on the Club’s website or Facebook page. If they object, then we will delete the photograph and maybe take it again without anyone in the background. Going forward, if we are not able to obtain permission to use the image, then we will not do so. Potteries Model Boat Club has been in existence for over 50 years and during that time many photographs have been taken and so some of these photographs may have been uploaded onto the Club website or onto our Facebook page. If you see an image of yourself or a related child and you object to that image being used, please contact our webmaster via the address on our website - https://www.potteriesmbc.co.uk or an administrator if it relates to our Facebook page. We will then remove the image or opaque out the person’s face so that they cannot be identified - whatever suits you. Note that with regard to our Facebook page, we have members of the Facebook group who are not fully paid up members of Potteries Model Boat Club so may not have read the Club rule book or other documents. We would ask that if Facebook members wish to upload any images onto our Facebook page, that they do not include images of people and particularly of children. Any such images going forward will be deleted by the Club’s administrators
